Pogi had just taken over as the Cowboys’ starting QB when this happened — and the story he tells about White is one you have to hear. These are the stories you can’t get anywhere else. Very fair evaluation, and one OSU fans should value. We've seen what these other guys can do at this level, and we haven't seen it from Mestemaker YET. And that's really the point. I think most folks are fully aware that Mestemaker has the talent to become the BEST QB IN THE BIG 12, but it's absolutely fair, as a Big 12 analyst, to want to see him do it at this level first. You can't just assume he's going to be better than guys who have already proven they can play at this level. Time to do some WURK and get this ball rollin'! 🔥 #GoPokes #OkState
Is Drew Mestemaker a TOP 5 QB in the Big 12? Pete Mundo Weighs In
Leslie O'Neal is not just one of the greatest defensive linemen ever to play at OSU; he's one of the greatest players in the history of this school. And, like a lot of the greats in OSU history, he wasn't overly recruited and really blossomed once he got to OSU. Ike Jackson, being from Ft. Smith, got to play against O'Neal in high school, who was from Little Rock. And the success O'Neal had surprised him. And, that's a pretty common theme. O'Neal went from fairly lightly recruited to becoming the 1984 Big 8 Defensive Player of the Year. He recorded 34 career sacks, which is STILL the record at OSU, and he had 16 in 1984, which is STILL the single-season record as well. He was the No. 8 pick in the 1986 Draft, he's in the College Football Hall of Fame and is in the OSU Ring of Honor. In fact, he was the 5th player to ever be put in that Ring, and that's not by accident. He's literally one of the greatest players EVER at OSU. I know Barry won the Heisman, and he and Thurman are Hall of Famers, but, for OSU, in terms of what they did HERE, and considering Leslie did it for FOUR years, the argument can be made that his is actually the GREATEST player in the history of this school. That's for debate. But it's not debatable that if he's not number one, he's not far behind. #GoPokes #OkState

🎙️ Pete Mundo of Heartland Sports and I talked about whether Texas Tech could become Oklahoma State's next great rivalry. Listen/watch here: [LINK] Winning will create excitement under any circumstance. But with OU in the SEC, I think Oklahoma State needs a rivalry that fans can truly love to hate. And this may be an unpopular take, but I think the most natural candidate is Texas Tech. First, whether we like how they've done it or not, Texas Tech is going to continue to be a contender. So when OSU plays Tech, if the Cowboys are good, there's a very real chance BIG stakes will be on the line. And honestly, the two schools have a lot in common. Similar histories. Similar fan bases. Similar chips on their shoulders. And I think there's just enough there for each side to genuinely be annoyed by the other. This year, as Pete points out, if the OSU-Texas Tech game means something in November, that will mean Oklahoma State has had a GREAT season to that point and has put itself in position to knock the doors down. Now, I fully understand that I just presented a whole bunch of IFs. And for plenty of OSU fans, this may sound pretty far-fetched right now. But that's also what makes it fun. Maybe Texas Tech becomes the team Oklahoma State fans love to hate. Maybe this game eventually means something every November. And hey... A man can dream, RIGHT? #GoPokes #OkState
